One morning, Ji Que wakes up to find himself in a bizarre, eerie world — a place where celestial mountains collapse, temples lie in ruins, evil spirits wear human skins, and wild gods feast on the marrow of the living. At the same time, he acquires a mysterious ability: he can “save up” comprehension points like money, and the more he accumulates, the more wondrous the things he can comprehend. Forced into a series of strange and uncanny events, Ji Que finds himself facing bone Buddhas that spit lotus flowers to “purify” everything, and Laozi himself who refines both heart and pill. But beyond the rampaging demons and monsters, Ji Que discovers something far more terrifying — the darkness within the human heart.
